From Hong Kong: four main crossings
Your driver chooses the crossing based on your destination and live traffic:
- Shenzhen Bay: the usual choice for Nanshan, Qianhai, Shekou, Shenzhen Airport, Guangzhou and Dongguan.
- Huanggang (Lok Ma Chau): the most direct for central Futian and Luohu.
- Liantang: best for eastern Shenzhen, Longgang, eastern Dongguan and Huizhou.
- Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge: for Macau, Zhuhai and Zhongshan. The Hong Kong port is next to the airport.
From Macau: main crossings
Between Macau and the mainland, we use the crossing that suits your pickup point and the time of day:
- Barrier Gate (Gongbei): closest to the Macau Peninsula and the usual choice for Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
- Hengqin: closer from Taipa and Cotai, and the easiest way into Hengqin.
- HZMB Zhuhai–Macau Port: for trips between Macau and Hong Kong over the bridge.
Do passengers get out at the border?
With a dual-plate vehicle, at most crossings and times passengers stay on board while officers check documents in the vehicle lane. At some ports or times — or for certain documents, such as some foreign passports — passengers walk through the passenger hall and rejoin the same car on the other side.
When we confirm your booking, we explain exactly what to expect for your documents and crossing.
What documents do you need?
- Hong Kong and Macau residents entering the mainland: Home Return Permit.
- International visitors: passport plus a valid visa, or eligibility for visa-free or transit visa-free entry (always check the latest official rules).
- Between Hong Kong and Macau: Hong Kong residents can use their HKID; international visitors follow Macau entry rules.
- Children: need their own valid documents too.
Tips for a faster crossing
- Avoid Friday evenings and Saturday mornings northbound, and Sunday afternoons southbound.
- Keep documents in hand so on-board checks go quickly.
- On public holidays, book early and allow extra time.
